As a lover of Italian culture as well as a frequent traveler to Italy, I consume my fair share of prosecco. If you want to be fair in the world of sparkling wine, it goes without saying that you simply can’t compare an Italian prosecco to a fancy French champagne, but the cost to value ratio is one of the best in the industry. I sometimes find that a $13 bottle of Italian prosecco drinks just as well as a $50 bottle of California sparkling wine and even some of the lesser priced French bubbly.
So why does everyone seem to be against prosecco? A wine expert and author questions the hostility towards this popular Italian sparkler.
