Breaking in the wine industry currently is the new investigation into a rather large amount of wine having its original pedigree falsified, and has been put into Bordeaux bottles of some of the best AOC’s in the world.
We’re talking about around one hundred and eleven thousand gallons of wine that has been sold for more than ten times the original worth.
As a consumer who is fond of Bordeaux, this is very troubling, and makes it hard to trust that what is on the label is indeed the contents. It will be interesting to find out how this all took place, and what safeguards may in instituted in the future to prevent this from happening again. With a poor harvest this year, this is especially troubling for Bordeaux having this happen at this time.
