The staff and board of the Santa Barbara Vintners are considering a mandatory 2% markup fee on every bottle of wine sold. This idea to add more income is the latest effort to help boost funds that will be put towards regional marketing efforts.
As the wine marketplace grows increasingly crowded, many vintners feel these types of fees are the solution and key to becoming more competitive when it comes to attracting visitors to their wine growing and wine tourism areas.
