New Tech May Ease Winemakers Nervous Over Smoke Taint Fears

Professor Ian Porter at Trobe University in Victoria, Australia, is eager to see smoke detector technology soon become a standard for Australian grape growers. Over a dozen of these smoke detectors have been deployed. The technology uses cumulative smoke dose from bushfire events and aligns it with grape, wine and phenyl data to make a smoke taint prediction. Read more about this exciting new technology.
